Established by the Lagos State Government under the visionary administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Industrial Leather Hub (SOT Leather Hub) is West Africa’s largest ultra-modern leather processing and manufacturing facility. Located strategically within the Matori Industrial Estate in Mushin, Lagos, our state-of-the-art facility serves as a vital bridge between raw African craftsmanship and the global luxury market.

The hub was formally commissioned in August 2025 by Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON. It was named in her honour to celebrate her lifelong commitment to grassroots social investment, poverty alleviation, and economic empowerment across the nation.

Our Story & The Industrial Need

For decades, Nigeria’s vibrant leather industry—despite contributing hundreds of millions of dollars annually through raw material exports—faced severe limitations at the local manufacturing stage. Nano, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (NMSMEs) and local clusters of artisans struggled to fulfill mass commercial or corporate orders due to a lack of specialized industrial equipment, high capital entry barriers, and inconsistent manual sizing.

Conceived to solve these structural bottlenecks, the SOT Leather Hub transitions local production from hand-tooling to automated, high-volume manufacturing. By retaining and processing high-grade skins locally, we ensure that the immense wealth of the leather value chain directly enriches Nigerian communities, generating premium finished goods proudly stamped “Made in Lagos, Made in Nigeria”.

• Artisan Support Network: Empowering more than 150,000 local leather artisans and independent designers with continuous technical training, skill optimization, and start-up support.
• Foreign Exchange Generation: Estimated to rake in over $250 million in annual export earnings at peak operational capacity.

Spanning comprehensive production, commercial, and training zones, our infrastructure provides a unique Shared Services Framework. Designers and corporate entities can bypass prohibitive machinery startup costs by utilizing our advanced production lines on a flexible contract or batch basis.

Our specialized processing floors are equipped with cutting-edge global technology:

• Footwear Production Facility: Features computer-controlled cutting tables, hydraulic clicking presses, automated mechanical lasting machines, and pneumatic sole-bonding lines.
• Bags & Leather Accessories Wing: Outfitted with precision splitting/skiving tools, heavy-duty long-arm linear and cylinder-bed sewing machines, and luxury thermal edge-creasing systems.
• Commercial & Educational Hub: Features shared design workstations, luxury retail showrooms, business development administrative suites, and modern training auditoriums.
